Paul Fuentes captures the magic of a mid-century time capsule in Palm Springs.
There’s a house in Palm Springs that time forgot, and thank goodness for that.
A true mid-century-modern gem that has defied the decades. This rainbow-themed time capsule, set in the heart of Twin Palms, is more than just a house. It’s a living, breathing piece of design history built in 1969 and barely touched since. Each room in the 3,350-square-foot home is decorated in a different colour and has been meticulously preserved, capturing the bold spirit and vibrant energy of a bygone era.
During Palm Springs' iconic Mid Century Week, the house opened its doors to the public. That’s when Paul met Brandy Armstrong, the proud owner and keeper of this retro treasure. The connection was instant. Brandy, as vibrant and welcoming as her home, saw something special in Paul’s fine art photography and knew he had to shoot there.
Spoiler alert: he did. And it was everything!
Paul brought his signature magic into a space that already felt like stepping into a movie set. He didn’t change the story, he simply elevated it, blending his dreamy surrealism and playful perfection with scenes that now burst with wild charm. Tigers lounging with mid-century flair, while cheetahs strike a pose in the pink master suite. The result? A series of images that read like a love letter to mid-century design and the animal kingdom, all filtered through Paul’s unmistakable lens.
The pink master suite stuns with its ornamental wallpaper and fearless flair. A white tiger lounges on the velvet bedding, adding a surreal touch to this already unforgettable scene.
The green dining room, momentarily ruled by a black cheetah. A striking contrast of wild elegance and vibrant colour.
When you leave a cake unattended, don’t be surprised if a giraffe shows up. Glorious canary-like yellow fills this room with stunning views of the perfectly manicured garden beyond.
The primary suite’s dressing room. over-the-top, retro glamour is the only way to lean into the look.
This elegant white swan found itself soaking in style right in the middle of the pink bathroom, carpeted and wallpapered in ornamentation that is anything but subtle. A scene that feels like a dream dipped in rose-tinted nostalgia.
Behind the green front door is an even greener living room. Opulent glass chandeliers glitter above, reflecting the light pouring in from a floor-to-ceiling glass lookout. But the true surprise? A stunning palomino horse stands calmly in the room, adding an ethereal touch to this surreal, dreamlike space.
If the home looks familiar, it's because it was featured on the Netflix show Stay Here.
If you ever get the chance to step inside this Palm Springs gem, do it.
But if you can’t, Paul’s photos are the next best thing!
